BOARD MEMBER

AVG Partner, Dual fellowship trained glaucoma & corneal surgeon, Your Eye Specialists (AVG-YES). Dr. Kubal attended Harvard University as an undergraduate, where he graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He went on to earn his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, one of the nation’s most prestigious medical schools, graduating at the top of his class. As a medical student, Dr. Aarup Kubal distinguished himself, receiving the Stephen J. Ryan, MD Prize, awarded to the most promising medical student entering the field of ophthalmology. Dr. Kubal completed his residency training at the world-renowned Wilmer Eye Institute. During his residency, Dr. Kubal was also awarded the A. Edward Maumenee Research Grant to pursue his research interests in advanced intraocular lens surgery. He then completed a fellowship at Minnesota Eye Consultants in Minneapolis, MN, one of the most prestigious cornea, glaucoma, and refractive surgery fellowships in the country. He also received advanced surgical training on new, minimally invasive techniques for glaucoma surgery, corneal transplantation.

Wilfredo Lara, MD

BOARD MEMBER

AVG Partner, Fellowship trained Vitreo-retinal surgeon, Retina Macula Specialists of Miami (AVG-RMSM). Wilfredo C. Lara, MD, a board-certified ophthalmologist, is fellowship trained in disease and surgery of the retina and vitreous. He was born in Maryland and raised in Miami, Fla. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Florida International University with extensive academic and personal accomplishments. Dr. Lara is deeply embedded in the South Florida Community and is fluent in Spanish. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine where he received numerous awards. He then completed an internship at the Hospital of Saint Raphael/Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Lara went on to complete an ophthalmology residency as well as a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Florida, Gainesville. Dr. Lara, together with Drs. Gonzalez, Levy, Shienbaum, and Taher, established Retina Macula Specialists of Miami with the vision of improving quality of life through prevention and treatment of retina and vitreous disease. Retina Macula Specialists of Miami is committed to providing personalized care while delivering the latest technological advances in the field.

Anil Vedula, MD

AVG Partner, Fellowship trained glaucoma & corneal surgeon, Your Eye Specialists (YES). Dr. Vedula attended Duke University as an undergraduate, where he was awarded the prestigious A.B. Duke Memorial Scholarship to study mathematics and physics, given to only 15 graduating high school seniors nationally. At Duke, he received the Faculty Scholar Award, the highest award given by the faculty, and graduated summa cum laude. He went on to earn his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine, one of the nation’s most prestigious medical schools, graduating at the top of his class. Dr. Anil Vedula completed his internship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, NY. He then completed his residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the nation’s top residency program, and eye hospital. He stayed at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute completing a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery. He is a volunteer Assistant Professor at Bascom Palmer, where he teaches clinical and surgical ophthalmology to residents and fellows. Dr. Vedula has several published articles in many medical journals and is a co- author of several book chapters. He is a member of the AAO, ASCRS, and the Cornea Society.
